A Big Saturday!

Today was a "together" day. Mike and I don't often get those days! However, today's "together" was a day of work over at Grandad's "farm" gardening and doing a general clean-up. Mike has been spending a lot of his off work time over there trying to get the HUGE tree cut up into "handle - able" sizes. As you can see, he still has a lot of work ahead of him!



However, we tried to get the existing wood pile cleaned up so that we could stack more there. We raked leaves, picked up old, old, wood and sticks. We cleared old rocks and pieces of cement. We tore down fences and cleared out ones that had already fallen down. Cleaning out that wood pile produced a sad discovery. We had missed our white cat for a week or two. Today we found it. He had crawled into the wood pile and died there. We seem to have lost too many cats lately. However, the up-note is that we have 4 cute new baby kittens ... and they are SO cute! And noone ever thought we would be "cat people". We certainly don't miss the mice that they have banished from the area, either! We think we will continue to keep cats!!!!

We have planted a big garden over at the "old" farm, as well. That has taken up my time the past week. I planted 21 tomato plants (Roma and Big Boy), peppers (jalepeno, yellow, and green), squash (Hubbard and Zucchini), cucumbers, peas, carrots, onions, potatoes (red and russett), corn, cantaloupe, strawberries. raspberries, sage & watermellon. We also planted peach trees to go with the apple trees that we already had.

There is a lot of satisfaction that comes with hard work, gardening, and clean-up projects. Satisfaction ...... and stiff muscles, aches and pains, and complete exhaustion! But it is great to see things coming together and looking so much better.

And I have to say .... we DID spend the day TOGETHER! That was also very nice. It has been a GOOD Saturday!
